Who showed at the LA shows?

Mischabart_amy_g_10967357_600Why was Mischa Barton at the the Bebe Spring 2007 runway show at  Smashbox? And why was she smiling?

Because she's currently the face of the U.S. fashion label, that's why. So basically, she's gotta be there, wearing a Bebe B/W silk dress.

In fact, if Keds has a runway show, she'll be there too.  She also appears in their ads.

But other than  Miss Mischa, there were very few (okay, none) of the young  actresses featured in fashion magazines as cutting-edge trend-setters at the Mercedes-Benz Spring '07 Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios. No Nicole Richie. No Mary-Kate and Ashley. No Kate Bosworth. No Scarlett Johansson. No Kirsten Dunst. No Charlize Theron, who attended last year.

And there was certainly no one shopping for an Awards Season '07 wardrobe.

Rock and Republic's show at Area, unlike last year's event which featured Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders and a real runway show (not just video of their NY event) and stars like Posh Spice and Katie Holmes, didn't even attract the promised guests like Paris and Nicky Hilton.

But it did draw Nick Cannon, Frankie Muniz, Kelly Hu, Jeremy Piven, Eric Benet, Brittany Snow, Dominique Swain, Jonathan Silverman, Elisha Cuthbert, and Paris’s party pal Kim Kardashian.

Paris, Nicky, Justin Timberlake, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy did turn up at Social Hollywood for the William Rast show and party. Justin, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine and will.i.am from the Black-Eyed Peas even performed for the packed house. It was so hot, fire marshalls even closed it down. Woo-hoo! Good times.

The Dressed to Kilt show on Saturday boasted Patricia Arquette, Thomas Jane, Linda Hamilton, Natasha Henstridge, and Kimberley Stewart. Sofia Milos was one of Sue Wong’s front row faces on Sunday night. Louis Verdad's overcrowded show also drew Alexis Bledel, Randy Jackson, and Garcelle Beauvais. Diana Ross turned up at Meghan’s collection and Angela Bassett was watching Dina Bar-El’s show.  And Daniella Clarke’s Frankie B runway show was watched by… Taryn Manning.

Kevin Hall's Thursday night show was attended by Joely Fisher, Milos and the Oscar-nominated "Sideways" babe, Virginia Madsen and Sinbad.

Sinbad?

Young Hollywood turns out for T-Mobile

Jessicasim_degui_9120805_600

Well, now we know.

Here's why Eva Longoria, from the award-winning show "Desperate Housewives," was in such a mad rush to get her hair done Tuesday evening at Jordan's Enchanted Cottage in West Hollywood.

She was headed straight to the T-Mobile Sidekick 3 party held later that night at the Hollywood Palladium.

Carloslope_weeks_9124011_600

The place was packed with the usual celeb suspects such as the Backstreet Boys, LA club empresario Brent Bolthouse, Donovan Leitch, Serena Williams, Jaime King, Rachel Bilson, "Crash" director Paul Haggis, Taryn Manning, Amanda Bynes, Haylie and Hilary Duff, Jessica Simpson, Mischa Barton with beau Cisco Adler, whew, and those still  battling ex-BFs Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton.

And in case you were wondering, yes, all the attending celebs got a free Sidekick 3 for their time and trouble.

Richie was spotted inside flailing her pipe cleaner arms while dancing with Mario Lopez. With her new long blonde hair extensions, she really does look like a Paris Hilton clone. But she's getting so darn emaciated that we're gonna start calling her Auschwitz Hilton.

Meanwhile, Paris has cleverly figured out a way to really stand out at parties. Bring brunette friends! She spent most of the night posing and partying with her new bookend brunette sidekicks, Caroline D'Amore and Kim Kardashian.

Venice, anyone? Will Lindsay or Mischa hit the fest?

Merciful St. Laurent! The Emmy Awards may not be so stylish this year.

Hollywood’s top tastemaker Rachel Zoe – who styles practically every fashion-forward young actress  – may not be available to dress her girls for the 2006 Emmy awards.

“I just heard the Emmys are in late August this year and that's gonna conflict with the Venice Film Festival,” the super chic stylist told me at the Helio launch party at the Madison boutique in WeHo Thursday. "When are the nominations announced? "

Mischabart_grant_9048023_600I wasn't sure so I checked. Nominations are released July 6. And the Emmy show is aired live on Aug 27. The 63rd annual Venice International Film Fest is Aug 30-Sept 9. And this year the fest will host the premiere of Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute,”  in case you care.

But Zoe's right, the Emmy/Venice timing will be very, very tight.

So which one of her gorgeous girls is going? That's still a secret. The Venice Fest's official lineup won't be announced for a few weeks.  But how about a guessing game: Could it be Zoe's super-hot girl Mischa Barton? The former "O.C." starlet is anxious to carve out a film career. She even mixed and mingled at Thursday's bash for Kevin Spacey's Triggerstreet.com launch.Harlanbrat_count_9049645_600

And her first big film “Angels and Virgins” with Anakin, sorry, Hayden Christensen, was shot in the Florentine hills so its got a distinct Eye-talian flavor. But it isn’t skedded to open until Jan 2007.

More likely it will be Zoe's other big clothing consumer, Lindsay Lohan.

Lohan's new film “Bobby,” about the assassination of Bobby Kennedy, will release in November 2006. Or there’s her other controversial assassination film, “Chapter 27,” about Mark David Chapman, John Lennon's killer, tentatively skedded for release in 2007.

BTW, "27" is best known for starring Cameron Diaz's ex, Jared Leto, who also dated Lohan for a while. Still with us? Leto porked up about 70 lbs to play Chapman. But he’s reportedly slimming down.

Wonder if his workout program includes strenuous rounds of tonsil-hockey, tongue-wrestling and making-the beast-with-two backs with Jessica Simpson. Leto's been spotted with the newly single Simpson at three different clubs in New York and LA this month.

Hey, in Hollywood, that’s how people date. They meet up at clubs, flirt and make out, then leave separately. Naturally, Simpson’s rep staunchly denies they’re an item because, well, that’s what reps are paid to do.

Vanity Fair's A-list only party

Vanity Fair honcho Graydon Carter reportedly culled the Hollywood herd for the mag's 2006 post-Oscar bash at Morton’s. Chatting with Bill Maher, he told the political talk show host that Paris Hilton would definitely not be on the VF guest list this year.

Apparently, he looked around his party last year and realized — Good Lord! — the place was lousy with reality TV stars! And the real movie stars didn’t want to be near them. Eww, small screen cooties!

Eve and Matt Dillon

So this year, the VF bash was an A-list only event with nominees and winners such as Dolly, Madonna, Joaquin, Terrence, Jake, Matt, Jamie Foxx, Philip, Reese and Ryan, Jennifer Aniston, Hilary Swank, Jerry Bruckheimer, Jay Leno, Keanu Reeves, Kirk Douglas, L’Wren Scott with beau Mick Jagger, Les Moonves, Teri Hatcher, Steve Tisch, Harvey Weinstein and Lauren Hutton.

Whew. The list goes on and on but if you want more names and faces, go to WireImage.com.

Tom Ford and Sienna Miller

Snapshots from the party:
Heath and Joaquin swapping funny stories. Heidi Klum helping Seal puff on a cigar. Jennifer Lopez dancing with Marc Anthony. Keira acting like a couch potato. Guy Ritchie kissing Mickey Rourke. Mischa Barton and Nicole Richie huddling and giggling, perhaps planning practical jokes to play on Paris Hilton, who was most definitely not at the party.

More close ups:
Sandra Bullock hanging on hubby Jesse James. Sienna Miller wearing another Thomas Wylde frock and kissing Tom Ford. Jennifer Aniston’s date Vince Vaughn entertaining Will Ferrell. CNN's Anderson Cooper amusing Patricia Clarkson. Beck sticking close to fellow Scientologist Giovanni Ribisi. Maher, whose date was a foxy Arianna Huffington, sat briefly with Winona Ryder, maybe asking her to be on his show. Eve consoling Matt Dillon up close and personal. Naomi Watts sparkling in a bright turquoise frock that was way prettier than her boring beige Givenchy gown. And Angelica Huston catching up with...Jimmy Buffet?

Gosh, it's almost as good as being there, isn't it? Maybe even better.

Has Mischa finally met her match?

Jake Gyllenhaal

It's official.

According to the Daily Mirror, Mischa Barton was indeed wearing Marchesa at the London Orange British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards.

And yes, the stunning pink gown was designed by Harvey Weinstein's girlfriend Georgina Chapman.

And it sure sounds like Chapman's got an Oscar gown or three in the works.

She told the British paper, "We have a lot of work on at the moment but we love what we do."

Hmm.

And don't be too terribly surprised if you soon read that Barton has started to date "Brokeback Mountain" BAFTA best supporting actor winner Jake Gyllenhaal.

According to the Daily Mirror, the solo-flying "O.C." starlet was like, totally stoked to meet the hunky actor at the pre-awards dinner.

And why not, I say! Those two cuties would make the coolest couple next to Gyllenhaal's "Brokeback" costars Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams.

Oops. Hope her current long-haired rocker beau, Cisco Adler doesn't read Styles & Scenes.

Sorry, dude. The truth hurts.

And the Marchesa winner is... Mischa Barton!

Mischabart_jon_f_7601743_600

Marchesa update: No official publicist confirmation yet.

But inside word is that Mischa Barton is the latest Hollywood lovely to wear a Marchesa gown — designed by Harvey Weinstein's girlfriend Georgina Chapman. She showed up in her Marchesa frock at the Brit version of the Oscars, otherwise known as the Orange British Academy Film Awards which were held on Feb. 19 at the Odeon Leicester Square in London.

Barton, as previously mentioned, is set to star in "Decameron: Angels & Virgins," which will be theatrically distributed by Harvey W.'s new film company, Weinstein Co.

And may I say that I'm shocked, simply shocked at this latest Weinstein movie/Marchesa fashion connection.

The film will be shot in Florence, Rome and Tuscany, Italy. Barton is set to play Pampinea and IMDB.com describes the film's plot succinctly: "Young Florentines regale one another in the Italian countryside while the Black Plague decimates their city."

Wow. Good times.

Barton's frothy mauve chiffon gown sure looked angelic, although some might suggest that Chapman shorten the single strap a bit to prevent a narrow escape from "wardrobe malfunction."

Although such a mishap certainly would have made bigger headlines, wouldn't it?

Who are you wearing? Marchesa by Weinstein, of course

As Harvey Weinstein swept through HBO's pre-Globes bash at the Chateau Marmont, he screeched to a halt to say a big bonjour to famous French fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier.

“Patrick, I want you to meet my girlfriend,” said Weinstein, gesturing to his slender, striking brunette date, Georgina Chapman, who has been dating the recently divorced former Miramax movie mogul, 53, for a respectable amount of time.

Cindileive_cohen_7065878_600

But little did Demarchelier know that this young woman was about to cause major red carpet burn this awards season.

In suspiciously swift record time, Chapman, a British model-actress-designer, and partner Keren Craig have hit big time celebrity pay dirt with their new Marchesa clothing line.

The line's name is an homage to eccentric clotheshorse and party girl Italian aristocrat Marchesa Luisa Casati — (1881-1957), who sounded a bit like a proto-Paris Hilton when she intoned: “I want to be a living work of art.”

Anyway, let's play connect-the-Marchesa-dots. First, Renée Zellweger wore a Marchesa creation to the “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason” London premiere. Zellweger (remember these connections because there may be a pop quiz) happened to star in "Cold Mountain" and "Cinderella Man", both linked to Miramax for production and distribution. Then Cate Blanchett wore a Marchesa sari to the Rome premiere of "The Aviator,” a film that Miramax helped produce and distribute in the U.S.

Are you with me so far? Good. Next up, Scarlett Johansson — soon to star in "The Nanny Diaries," a new Weinstein Co. production — wore a Marchesa design on a red carpet. Then came Penelope Cruz, who starred in the 2000 Miramax film "All the Pretty Horses", wearing a pale pink Marchesa at the 2006 Golden Globes.

For a grand finale, Felicity Huffman — star of "Transamerica," Weinstein's big post-Disney/Miramax-muddle hit — wore a white Marchesa frock to pick up her best actress Globe at the show and dance the night away at the after-parties.

“Harvey asked those actresses, including Felicity, to wear his girlfriend’s dresses to their premieres or to an important awards show,” sniffed one longtime Hollywood style insider. “And it was a ‘favor' that Felicity really couldn’t refuse.”

True or not, Huffman certainly felt she owed Weinstein one. Accepting her Breakthrough Performance Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala in early January, a Huffman doled out heartfelt thanks.

“This movie wouldn't have been seen by anyone if it were not for Harvey Weinstein. And Harvey wouldn't have seen the film if William Macy (Hoffman's husband) hadn't called him up, got him on the phone and convinced him to come to a screening the next day. That’s a good boyfriend to have, huh?”

Interestingly, hubby Macy also starred with Cruz in "Sahara." Hmm. Did a Macy call to Cruz return Weinstein's "Transamerica" favor? Was that how Cruz, who favors Ralph Lauren and Oscar de la Renta, discovered the fledging Marchesa line?

We may never know. But the fashion fairy tale is far from over. Spotted at Marchesa’s recent fashion show at the Rainbow Room during New York’s Fashion Week: Josh Hartnett (who is, ahem, dating Johansson), Anne Hathaway, (she voiced a character in Weinstein Co.'s animated film, "Hoodwinked") Huffman's "Desperate Housewives" pal, costar Nicolette Sheridan and Marchesa-in-the-making Nicole Richie.

Not that the lovely Marchesa gowns don't deserve attention. But the line's success has come so fast that it's making other designers — who've struggled for years to get stars to wear their gowns — turn chartreuse with envy.

Will an actress wear a Marchesa to the upcoming Oscars? Probably. But the big question is: who? And the answer may lie in the Weinstein Co.'s 2006-2007 movie slate. Could the next Marchesa model be...

Rating the hottest Globe bashes

Who cares about the awards show. Let's talk about the post parties!

Film studios and TV networks spend beaucoup bucks on the food, décor, booze and service staff for their official Globe after-parties. But that’s just smoke, black velvet and mirrors. The true test of a party’s hotness is the star power. The after-bash with the hottest gals, coolest dudes, cutest couples and award-clutching stars wins.

Here’s a quick rundown of who-got-who-and-where.

Host: In Style/Warner Bros.

Where: The Oasis, formerly Palm Court. Think a cavernous blue-lit disco space with spiky Giger-esque red glass tumor-lights over an enormous bar, big dance floor and outdoor smoking area.

Charlize Theron

Difficulty factor: Piece of cake. The best arrival viewing party and a chance for fans to scream at stars, ask for autographs and take photos. Stars DO stop to sign when they come and go. But once inside, good luck getting through the throng of tuxes and gowns to find them. Tip: head for the small outdoor smoking areas. Or try the dance floor, where Bill Macy and his Globe-winner wife Felicity Huffman were rocking out like teenagers at their high school prom.

Star count: George Clooney and Charlize Theron. Need we say more? OK, George was with his publicist, she was with her boyfriend, Stuart Townsend. Other hot couples: Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, "OC" cuties Rachel Bilson and Mischa Barton, hardly desperate Nicollette Sheridan with Michael Bolton (creepy), Seal with Heidi Klum (creepier).

This was definitely THE hot babe bash: Jessica Biel, Jenna Elfman, Natasha Henstridge, Natalie Portman, Mandy Moore, Paris Hilton, Virginia Madsen and Rose McGowan, Melanie Griffiths’ daughter, Dakota Johnson. And Adrien Brody.

Host: Universal/Focus Features/NBC

Where: An elevator ride up to the hotel’s garage rooftop.

Difficulty factor: From a 10 minute to half hour wait to get in. No one wanted nasty fire marshals to shut it down, which they’d do if the body count went over 800. Linger outside the big tent to catch red carpet action: Keira Knightley, Ang Lee and Rachel Weisz clutching their awards and talking about how surprised/nervous/happy they are.

Star count: Second place for celeb sizzle. Major points for “King Kong” director Peter Jackson.

Hot couples: Former Hobbit Dominic Monaghan and his "Lost" costar-squeeze Evangeline Lily, Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams, Zach Braff with Mandy Moore.

Hot dudes: Eric Bana, Cillian Murphy and Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Hugh Laurie, Matt Dillon, Luke Wilson, Patrick Dempsey. Oh, and Adrien Brody.

Memorable moment: Keira Knightley dancing up a storm, spinning around and giggling, while holding a glass of champagne. That’s what we call multitasking.

More parties…

Photo: Hot couple Charlize Theron and Stuart Townsend definitely add some sizzle to the Warner Bros./In Style official Golden Globes after-party.

Hollywood's fashion junkies hit the Globes

There’s a new drug in Hollywood. And some of the hottest young actresses are into it.

Nicole Richie’s been seen with it at A-list parties and night clubs. Mischa Barton, Kate Beckinsale, Keira Knightley, Mandy Moore, Heidi Klum and Joy Bryant may even bring it to the Golden Globe Awards.Mischa_ysl

It’s Yves St. Laurent designer clothing. YSL for short. And super-stylist Rachel Zoe is solely responsible for the current YSL wave sweeping Hollywood. She’s been dressing all of the above actresses in slinky, sexy vintage and modern YSL for the past two years.

But she isn’t just a pusher. She’s also a user.

“It’s really my addiction,” she admitted at the recent bash for M.A.C Beauty Icon and fellow YSL addict Catherine Deneuve at the Chateau Marmont. It’s said that if there are just two addicts in a room, it still qualifies as an twelve step recovery meeting. Perhaps Zoe and Deneuve should have opened the penthouse party with a Style Serenity Prayer.

“I can't stop myself. I'm like a junkie. If there was a YSL rehab, my husband would have had me admitted years ago,” said Zoe, wearing a YSL blouse and slacks with a sculpted black Christian LaCroix jacket that she found in Paris. ”But I tell him that it’s better than doing drugs.”

Zoe will be dressing Knightley, Beckinsale, Moore, Barton and Klum for the Golden Globes and admits that she's little fried from all the fashion frenzy.

“It’s a love/hate relationship,” she said of the awards season with back-to-back galas and parties. “It’s manic and crazy but it’s what I do and what I love. It’s like dressing Cinderella for the ball. And all  the girls are so beautiful. I’m really lucky to get to work with that much beauty.”

So what will they be wearing Monday night? Silly question. The answer would spoil the red carpet surprise. But if you're the betting kind, put some serious money on vintage YSL.

“All the girls have very distinct styles. Some of them will look feminine and classic and some will be more edgy,” whispered Zoe. “But call me Monday after 3:30 and I’ll give you all the details.”
