Chanel fuss is just a frock says Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore was in very fine form at the Hollywood premiere of the new animated kiddy flick, “Curious George," wearing a cap-sleeved, portrait neckline black dress and a tiny gold heart bracelet and necklace.

Uncharacteristically, she even talked about fashion and how silly she thought everyone was acting over Globe-winner Reese Witherspoon’s Chanel frock that was previously worn by Kirsten Dunst at a Globes post party back in 2003.

“You gotta be able to laugh at yourself,” said Barrymore.

The actress, who sent up the brouhaha about her being braless at the Globes by wearing fake droopy breasts on “Saturday Night Live” the weekend after the awards show, seemed happy that people at the “George” premiere at Hollywood's ArcLight Cinemas were more interested in her voice role. She’s the perky voice of a schoolteacher romantically interested in the Man in the Yellow Hat (Will Ferrell) who owns George the monkey.

But for the record, “I’m wearing Celine,” boasted Barrymore. “And a bra!” she added with a giggle, as she ran over to hug Ferrell at the after-party.

OK, you gotta love this girl.

Drew Barrymore goes for bust on 'SNL'

Drew Barrymore Drew Barrymore had some people — like the Hilton ballroom audience, finicky fashion folks and at-home viewers — wondering why she didn't wear a bra to present an award at the 63rd annual Golden Globes.

The ruffled sleeves on her belted '40s-style forest green Gucci gown did accentuate a low-slung healthy bosom. But did Lloyd Grove, New York Daily News gossip columnist have to go to a plastic surgeon for his not-exactly-scalpel-sharp criticism?

But now we know why Barrymore shunned the bra. It was all prep for a "Saturday Night Live" skit!

Okay no, it wasn’t. And we have no clue why she went braless.

But Barrymore, who first hosted "SNL" at age 7, did a hilarious cameo on last Saturday's "SNL Weekend Update," spoofing her Globes gown.

After a report on her Globes look, Barrymore walked out sporting a sweater with attached granny boobs that hung to her knees like stuffed sock monkeys. She proceeded to lean over "Update" anchors Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, flinging her faux floppies in their faces.

Bravo, Drew! For having a sense of humor, unlike some stars we can think of. Like Julia Roberts and, well, Julia Roberts.

This isn’t the first time Drew’s breasts have made a late night NBC appearance. She flashed David Letterman back in '95, doing a sexy birthday dance on the red-faced host’s desk and lifting up her blouse (with her back to the audience, darn it).

Wonder if Gwyneth Paltrow saw Drew’s skit last weekend and wishes she’d had the wit to send herself up on SNL when her Alexander McQueen 1995 Oscar frock caused more than one fashion critic to compare her breasts to chicken cutlets. Hey, they said it, not me.

Wonder if Scarlett Johansson will pull a Drew on next week’s "SNL" and send up her voluminous but well-supported mammaries, which were basking in their own glory at the Globes. Unlike Barrymore's, Johansson's were perfectly propped, so we hear, by Valentino’s carefully designed inner support system.

Consisting of what, cranes, steel cables and pulleys?
