Standing next to Bacall? Daunting, sez Scarlett
Multiple Golden Globe nominee Scarlett Johansson ("Girl with a Pearl Earring," "Lost in Translation," "Match Point," "Love Song for Bobby Long") shared the stage with Lauren Bacall Monday night at Elle magazine's Women in Hollywood awards dinner.
In her speech, she acknowledged how inappropriate she felt to be up there with such a screen legend.
"Only in Hollywood does it take two and a half decades to be eligible for an icon award. And only in Hollywood can a goofball like me stand on the same stage as Lauren Bacall," said Johansson, wearing a Louis Vuitton black strapless dress.
On the trappings of cinema fame:
"Never before has a table at Osteria Mozza been so available,'' she continued. "The Chateau Marmont will selflessly accommodate myself, my dog, my cat, my goldfish, and my twin brother. Wait in line at the airport? Not anymore. And I don't have to put my lipgloss in a Ziploc."
But here''s what she had to say before the awards about Elle, the empowerment of women and her new film, "The Other Boleyn Girl."
