Did Britney know how bad she was?

What we expected to see, based on Britney Spears' past VMA performances.

And what we saw....

The morning after brings new revelations. Did Britney know she was bad? And when did she know it? Various online reports reveal:

A. Britney may have fired her hairdresser just before going out onstage.

B. She might have mouthed "I'm sorry," not "thank you," as she left the stage, bursting into tears backstage.

C. She might have been upset by Sarah Silverman's jokes, which she might have heard during rehearsals. Frankly, I'm not sure that if she heard them, she'd understand them. "She is amazing," razzed a straight-faced Silverman. "She is 25 and has already accomplished everything she is going to accomplish in her life." It's pretty easy to imagine Britney being slightly baffled by that remark. Just watch this and decide. The girl is not the sharpest pencil in the box.

The whole comeback debacle is just so sad. Like many people, I was into the possibility of a Britney Rebirth. Wouldn't it be cool if she really did pull herself together and blow everyone's socks off? But it didn't happen. And now her comeback's practically DOA, no matter how good her new album is.

Maybe if Britney had spent as much time in the past year practicing her dance moves, rehearsing and getting in shape as she's spent partying and clubbing -- including the night before the show, when she was seen dancing at Diddy's party -- things could have turned out better.

We may never know. But Britney wasn't the only bad bad thing at the VMAs. Click here for more missteps and mistakes.

Hope someone is taking care of her money. She's going to need it.

A shameful performance by a pathetic has-been! The supporting cast of entertainers must have been so embarrassed.

How much money does Britney make? She couldn't hire a personal trainer? Where were her managers? Why does Brit go around "commando" in a mini dress after the VMA mess? This poor child is screaming for help.

Time for Britany to grow up and join the real world. Success, money, fame is not all a 'gimme' in this world. Just because your name is in the tabloids and mom raised you as a little star doesn't mean it's yours for infinity.

She just keeps sinking to new lows. I couldn't imagine how bad she could've been until I saw the replay on MTV's site. That was absolutely pathetic. And I don't know the reason she fired her hairdresser, but she should've been grateful for any help she's given these days. Her hangers-on are going to dwindle.

Time for a little girl to grow up and realize she's human like the rest of us mere mortals.

I have no problem with a 25 yr old chubby mother of 2. I do have a problem with a 25 yr old chubby mother of 2 who thinks she is an 18 yr old teeny bopper. R.I.P. Brittany career.

Give the kid a break. She rose to fame early, had it all early, and has lived her life in a fishbowl. Most of us couldn't handle that from such a young age. Add to that...Hollywood relationships, two babies, and all the rest of the crap that goes on, and it's no wonder the poor thing is still giving it a try. Sure, she sucked and badly. Don't judge her until you've lived a day in her life, okay?

Who are you to judge anyway? Are you perfect? Are your lives all so flawless that you can criticize others?

The REAL problem Britney has is WE THE JUDGEMENTAL (audience)...

The rest of the problems are just hollywood bullcrap, and that stuff she could get over, but when the whole world thinks they have the right to judge her....like I said, it's no wonder she's cracking under all of our pressure. Hell, it's no wonder she hasn't fled to some third world country in order to escape all of us. I would, if I were her.

Comedian Sarah's pokes at Spears' children crossed the line. If you watch the clip of her segment, no one is really "laughing" laughing. The pictures of some celebrities faces are in shock. Britney Spears did great for someone who hasn't been on stage in 3 yrs, and she looked great for a mother of two. Give the poor girl a break. A respectable, if not a bit disappointing attempt.

chris

Maybe if Britney would take some time and be a mother to her fatherless children people wouldn' think she's such a miserable person.

It's really sad watching a person gone from nobody to super stardom, only to descent straight to what most of the child stars has done in Hollywood - party like a rock star? Fame and success can take away the individual sense of pride and dignity, it takes an effort to hang on to that sensibility in you, in case you really need it some day. Britney should take some time away from the public eye and go back to her humble begining, reaccess and reflect on her path now, instead of over exposing her obvious down fall in the industry and public critics no longer intersted in her talent. There's simply too much of emphasis on her poor little famous single mom routine on Ms. Speras out there, it's just not cool to live one's life in such waste of talent, energy, and hard earned money.

She (briney) was a celebrity ....now she is a White Trash......
