Wanna get into Kate's jeans? Get in line!

Katemoss_richa_12959173_600_2

What is it about Kate Moss? The sphinx-like, doe-eyed supermodel – best known for dating drugged-out rocker Pete Doherty – can do no wrong. After barely a month in rehab, she was welcomed back to the fashion fold last year with more designer endorsements and advertisement contracts than ever.

Hpim0564_2And now she’s setting the retail world on its head with her very own clothing line. So I'm walking around London on vacation and  I've already spotted a curious crowd and a TV camera crew gathering outside Topshop on Oxford Street in London to get a glimpse of Kate doing a rare personal appearance launching her new duds. Kate will be on display posing (along with mannequins) in the store windows this evening and limited batches of shoppers will be let in for twenty minutes, starting at 8 pm until midnight. Only five items per customer, please. Topshop expects the line to sell out by evening's end. Which translates to lots of disappointed young girls who hope to  be mistaken for Kate Moss simply by wearing bits of her clothing.

Kate’s reportedly getting 3 million pounds – about $6 million -  for the 50-piece line of duds including a vest, leather jacket, skinny jeans, T-shirts and a one-shouldered dress. Word is that her beau Pete will not be there. Something about him being really busy getting a new anti-drug implant put in his arm. Seriously. Wonder if they can do a brain implant as well while they’re at it.

Young Hollywood: Made in the Shades

Katharine_raym_13720918_600

Ah, freshly found fame. There is nothing rising young stars enjoy more than getting awards and being recognized by their fans. And getting free designer sunglasses that make it appear that they're trying NOT to be recognized. Here are "Exciting New Vocalist" winner Katharine McPhee and "Exciting New Face" winner ("Desperate Housewives" hunk and  Paris Hilton's newest boytoy) Josh Henderson trying on their (FREE!) shades at last week's  Young Hollywood Awards Solstice Sunglass suite. The only thing sillier than celebs going nuts and posing in free shades is the people who pay money for the same expensive shades given gratis to celebs.  But just in case you fall into that pathetic category, Katharine's in a Gucci 2948 style and Josh is wearing Emporio Armani 9365. But you didn't hear it from me, okay?

Clooney's Cannes party plans

Georgeclo_dale_12898146_600

When George Clooney was at the Cannes Film Festival for the Coen brothers' “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou” premiere in 2000, he celebrated at an after-party held high in the hills above Cannes, a lavish home owned by an Arab businessman of some repute. There were huge B&W cardboard cows propped up on the lawn, and in the center of the pool and guests were given tins of old-fashioned hair pomade with a photo of Clooney (in "Oh, Brother" character) on it. Seriously. I still treasure mine. It's so never going on Ebay!

Hpim0517This year, things will be slightly different. And more charitable. Word is Clooney plans to make use of the international attention by holding a fundraiser screening of "Ocean's Thirteen" benefitting the people of Darfur on May 22nd, two days before the Steven Soderbergh thriller officially premieres at the Palais. Wow. Two "Ocean's" bashes in one week?

It's also expected that the entire cast, Brad Pitt (and Angelina?), Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, even Ellen Barkin, will be in town for most of the week and will hit Wednesday night's always star-studded amfAR dinner. This is sure to give the Darfur crisis major international press coverage and support. Did I mention Bono will be in Cannes too? Jane Fonda will most likely attend the AmfAR fete there too. She's attending a special tribute to her father on on May 26 at the Carlton Hotel.

So Pitt has another reason to be in Cannes, other than just to support his life partner, co-parent Angelina Jolie at the Cannes premiere of her new film “Mighty Heart,” about the death of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.

And there's more...

Bijoux Phillips doesn't cry wolf

Dannymast_maury_13718590_600_2

Danny Masterson cops a feel at the Young Hollywood Awards Sunday night. But Bijoux Phillips – winner of the Scream Queen” award for her impressive vocal abilities in “Hostel 2” - didn’t seem to mind. In fact, I think she liked it. What do you think...

Katherine needs to leave poor T.R. alone

Trknigh_donat_13722591_600

Yes, T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl play star-crossed friends/lovers on "Grey's Anatomy." And yes, they're pals in real-life and he presented her with the "Superstar of Tomorrow" award at last night's Young Hollywood Awards.

But is anyone else getting sick of their never-ending PDAs? Frankly, the whole supportive straight friend routine has grown annoying. And I suspect T.R.'s had enough too. Check out these photos closely. I've never seen a face that more loudly screams, "Help me. Someone, please help me."

Dakota's new career move?

Dakotafan_jeff_13719521_600

Just in case this acting thing doesn't pan out, child star Dakota Fanning - winner of the Young Hollywood "Hottest Coolest Young Veteran" Award - prepares for a fall-back career as a spokesmodel displaying products on a TV game show.

Photo Credits: Just kidding. But the preternaturally mature young actress ("I'm not familiar") was already the subject of a spoof on "Saturday Night Live." Can obscurity be far behind?

Shia LaBeouf gets "clear"

Shialabeo_jeff_13719709_600

Last night Shia LaBeouf almost succumbed to the overwhelming desire to pose for photos looking through his Hollywood Life "Superstar of Tomorrow"  Young Hollywood Award. I like to think this Envelope.com item helped the star of the upcoming "Transformers" resist the temptation. Click here.

Sniff, sniff... Are you wearing Eau de Mort?

Justinlon_maury_13719243_600

Hollywood Life magazine – formerly known as Movieline - will announce some big web news next week. Inside word is that the glossy mag will partner with one of the big portals to provide exclusive entertainment content. AOL, Yahoo, Google, perhaps? Oh, and Movieline.com will be resurrected.

That’s probably why there were very few TV crews inside the mag’s annual Young Hollywood Awards, held at the Henry Fonda Music Box Theatre in Hollywood last night.  And why their younger generation of talent – Hilary Duff, Luke Wilson, Jessica Alba, Shia LaBeouf, Ludacris, Dane Cook, Dakota Fanning and Katharine McPhee, were shuffled off the red carpet and into a special Green Room for exclusive video interviews/photos and footage that will no doubt appear on the site.

And it's probably why there are 12 different photo galleries already up on WireImage.com detailing every aspect of last night's event; from red carpet arrivals, cocktails and portraits to the swag (sorry, gifting) suite, backstage/audience, show and after-party photos. What, no shots of celebs at the valet or stars getting into limos? Audi, one of the night's sponsors, totally missed a marketing bonanza. One panty-less star? Auto branding history.

Here’s one moment from last night that probably won’t make the new web venture: After flamboyant Hollywood Life publisher Anne Volach’s notoriously lengthy opening pontification, host Justin Long – best known as the Mac kid on TV commercials – stepped up to the podium, sniffed the air and whispered to the predominately pubescent audience, “She smells like formaldehyde....”

Hey, here's a thought: How about Justin Long as an Oscar host? He might draw millions of younger viewers and get rid of that funeral home odor in the Kodak Theatre.

Herr Karl is coming!

Karllagerf_impic_13548322_600

Faire attention, all you Chanel junkies. Karl Lagerfeld is coming to town. The Paris-based designer will fly to LA to show off his Chanel Cruise collection in a runway extravanganza on May 18th at the Santa Monica Airport with a star-studded post party. Hmm. Just in time to do a little dress placement for the Emmys, perhaps? For some insights into Karl's psyche: click here. I love his honest, unapologetic response to the query about how he keeps weight off: "I eat next to nothing." Wish skinny Hollywood starlets would be so refreshingly blunt.

Photo Credits: Here's Herr Karl in the South of France this month, looking appropriately natty in a stiff-collared red n' white checked shirt, red-trimmed gray jacket, worn jeans, boots and red fingerless gloves. This St. Tropez ensemble could so work in LA.

Who will Angelina wear to Cannes?

Angelinajo_polk_3888949_600

Angelina Jolie will walk the red carpet on the Croisette at the Cannes International Film Festival next month to support her new film "Mighty Heart." In it, She plays Mariane Pearl, the widow of Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal reporter who was kidnapped and beheaded in 2002. Check out this EW story about the film and, more importantly, to see what Jolie would look like if she had brown eyes.

Jolie's co-parent Brad Pitt will accompany her in Cannes - no doubt to pay her back for putting on a brave face and suffering through the Golden Globes earlier this year. Just two weeks later, her mother died. Will we see Angie in another St. John gown, like the boring gray number she wore at the Globes? Hope not. Or will Jolie surprise us with a more internationally acclaimed, perhaps Paris-based couturier, like maybe Karl Lagerfeld or John Galliano?

She wore slinky sexy black Versace gowns to both her "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" and "Alexander" premieres and a creamy chiffon Alberta Ferretti to the Worldwide Orphans Foundation event in 2005. My money's on Versace this time.

Memo to Paris, Lindsay and Britney: keep reading to see how Angelina elegantly handles slit skirts on high steps. Watch and learn.
