Which actress is campaigning hardest? (not who you think)

Forget Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet or Helen Mirren. Never mind Judi Dench, Meryl Streep or Jennifer Hudson.

This award season, the hardest working gal in Hollywood is an actress who isn't nominated for anything.

Yet.

Last Friday night, Sienna Miller (Jude Law's on -again, off-again, maybe on-again girlfriend) attended a screening (including cocktails and munchies) of her film, “Factory Girl,” at the MGM screening room in Century City. Saturday, she was whisked to Palm Springs to present several awards at the Palm Springs Film Festival gala and she did a bang-up job reading the teleprompter, I must say. Far better than Laurence Fishburne, who had a little trouble with his teleprompted lines to present an award to Sidney Pollack.

Later that night, Miller celebrated with “Babel” director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu at the Parker hotel after-party. The next day, she attended the Screen Actors Guild tea with Rinko Kikuchi and Adam Beach, schmoozing some of the old guard like Connie Stevens, JoBeth Williams, and Dick Van Patten.

Tuesday afternoon, Miller attended a special lunch at Mr. Chow to celebrate “Girl.” Tuesday night she hit the Drago cocktail party hosted by Janet and Martin Sheen for Emilio Estevez and the cast of his Golden Globe nominated film, “Bobby.”  Sienna bonded briefly with fellow blonde sex symbol Sharon Stone and chatted with Demi Moore, who came with a bad cold that she kept apologizing for and Ashton Kutcher, whom she most certainly did not apologize for. Nor should she.

Today Sienna unveiled the Godiva One Million Dollar Hearts on Fire Diamond Shopping Spree Valentine’s Day offer at Century City, wearing bright red, naturally. Thursday night, she will be feted with a swanky Chanel dinner for sixty at the Chateau Marmont. She’ll no doubt hit the hot HBO party at the Chateau  Saturday night and then there's the BAFTA/LA tea party Sunday aftrnoon. And she'll  present an award at the Golden Globes on Monday. Expect her at the Weinstein post Globes party and the Instyle/Warner Bros fete.

She will also open the Santa Barbara Film Festival on January 25 with her film about Edie Sedgwick, the poor little rich girl and muse to Andy Warhol who was actually born - and committed suicide - in Santa Barbara.Sharonston_charb_12154769_600

What's most astonishing about her campaigning activities, frantically organized by the Weinstein PR folks, is that Miller’s not nominated for anything this season. In fact, “Factory Girl,” much to the consternation of Harvey Weinstein, hasn’t gotten any nominations or awards buzz. So why all this frantic activity before the Oscar nom deadline this weekend? Only the nominations will tell.

What’s "Factory Girl" about? Think Holly Golightly on heroin. “Girls” is best known as being the movie that Bob Dylan reportedly tried to stop from being released.  At last report, he's proceeding with legal action against the film’s producers because of his resemblance to one film character, Billy Quinn, who dumped poor Edie, leading, some say, to her death. That said, the film is a fantastic flashback of '70s styles and an homage to Sedgwick's influence on fashion. Sienna herself is a young trend-setter and her 2007 award season fashion show is far from over. All those who think that Sienna may wear a gown by Marchesa (Harvey's gorgeous designer girlfriend) to the Golden Globes or the Oscars, raise your hands.
