Johnny Depp ditched France for West Hollywood!
This comment just in from a reader in-the-know in response to an earlier Hollywood Bytes item about Johnny Depp's legal skirmish with the West Hollywood City Council regarding a development planned beneath his Hollywood Hills property that will impact the view of Sunset Strip for his kids.
"I have a real problem with reporters who write articles that are
inaccurate because the reporters are behind the times or did not do the
proper research. Johnny and Vanessa are not raising their kids who are
4 and 7 (not 4 & 6) in France. Their daughter attends school in
LA. And they've been living in the West Hollywood house for almost two
years. There are exceptions, such as when Vanessa and the kids visit
Johnny on location. But, their residence has been West Hollywood, NOT
France.
I suggest that, not just the person who wrote this article, but ALL
"reporters" get their facts absolutely straight before writing
something that could damage those they write about. And, an article
of apology for writing inaccurate information about Johnny, Vanessa and
their kids, and where they live, would be very nice to see. At least
someone would have the guts to eat crow and admit to the mistaken
facts. And then, fully researching, next time, instead of going by
what every other misinformed reporter and organization says, would be a
good step in the right direction, as well." Linda
She's absolutely right. I owe Linda, Johnny, Vanessa and everyone in the universe an apology for writing that the retail project developers' legal defense against Depp's suit was/is that his kids are being raised in France. Except that really is what their defense claims. I didn't claim it. They did.
Frankly - and i think we can all agree here - the happy news that the Depp family has been firmly ensconced in West Hollywood for two years and that their daughter (age 7, not 6) attends school here is cause for a WeHo-wide celebration!
Forget the city's Gay Pride big celebration this weekend. Let's have a Depp Pride party! And let's hope that this revelation brings about a successful outcome for the Depp family suit against the West Hollywood City Council's decison to support those demonic developers.

The reporting on this subject has been catty & a bit high-schoolish. Sounds like someone has a little bit of money/house envy. Depp has every right as a homeowner to legally challenge another shopping mall within sight. Actually, the most upsetting thing I've read (through the reporting and the posts) is the fact JD prefers his child to be educated in Hollywood rather than France. Now that's worth hand-wringing about!

I think everyone should keep their noses out of it. I know every single one of you guys have gone to your states counil and complained that your neighbor built a shed to close to your own property line. That's exactly what Johnny is doing, even though the shed it doing nothing to your house or family, we are all cavemen protecting the things we have but it seems since celebrities have so much more than us we can nag on them for doing this. It turns all of you guys in to big, fat hypocrites for nagging on someone for doing something everyone does atleast once in their lives!
thank you.

Am I the only one who has problems with him kicking up a stink when the roof of the building that's being built will come 40 feet BELOW his house?! I think he could waste his time on something a lot more worthy. Perhaps he's worried about paparazzi climbing up on the roof to take pics. In which case, if he wanted to ensure this didn't happen, he should have bought all the land around his home for miles, and done it day one, instead of bitching about it now. that's my 2 cents. The man's almost 43. He'd want to start acting like it.

Let me get this straight: The LA Times gets its facts wrong and then doesn't have the ethics, hubris or common decency to offer a simple "mea culpa" to a celebrity? Instead attacking this person further for exercising very typical rights?
What has happened to The Times? If this is their response to getting things wrong, perhaps we shouldn't trust anything this paper writes anymore. Shame LAT.

I say it does not matter where they live, they own the property so they have just as much right as anyone to fight a building going up, famous or not !

Mr. Depp has the same rights as any other property owner to defend the value of his property against devaluation - whether he lives in it our not. This is America where we used to observe individual rights and not award corperate greed. I hope he wins!

I think you doth protest too much LA Times. Are you upset that readers had tocorrect your so called investigative reporting? As for the pic above, is Depp the only celebrity that travels to events outside of the US? As your paper initially reported, incorrectly I might add, Depp lives in France, which has been pointed out to you is untrue. No one is asking for any kind of parade for Johnny Depp. What's wrong with a homeowner taking someone to court because of these same kinds of issues? That's the real issue here, not the slant the Times put on the story about Depp not living in the US anymore. Your report reeks of something found in the National Enquirer.

I find it very upsetting that Johnny Depp and his family cannot fight this issue of stopping the building of this mall that will block his view of Sunset Strip. Anyone else that may have paid a lot for there home becasue of location , view or whatever has right to "fight City Hall" if they choose to.
Just becasue the person happens to Johnny Depp and there are so many people that like him for being a nice guy trying to rasie his family, the press has to go after him trying to make headlines for themselves.
I give him alot of credit for going through with this.
Press put yourselves in his shoes would you just sit by and let this happenif it were you?
Go Johnny and Good Luck.

Let's just be thankful that this one didn't claim to represent all Depp fans worldwide.
I am an AVID Depp (and Paradis) fan, I'll spare you the details, but I can't stand the "Deppheads" who email the author of every unsavoury article about the man. Yes, I think it's right that he's kicking up a fuss about views being ruined and yes, I think it's snide of the developers to claim things based on what they have read, but I'm not about to shoot the messenger!!
Save from starting a petition, which I have seriously thought about, there is not much I can do, and certainly asking people who are, in this case, innocent of any misrepresentation of the facts, to print retractions will not help one bit.
Have you heard from Linda in regards to this article?
Bon chance if you have!
