Clooney to Arianna: I Did Not Blog

George Clooney

Oscar winner George Clooney may make politically provocative films like "Syriana." But he doesn't write politically provocative blogs.

So imagine his ire when Arianna Huffington used some of his recent answers to political questions in a way that makes it look as if he wrote one for her Huffington Post blog site.

"He doesn't object to the quotes," says Stan Rosenfield, Clooney's rep. "He said those things and those are his views. Arianna asked for permission to use the quotes and he gave it to her. What he didn't give permission for was the use of his quotes without source attributions to make it appear that he wrote a blog for her site. Which he did not. When he saw the posting Monday, we called and asked her to make the change, to simply attribute the quotes and make it clear that he did not write a blog. But she refused. And it's now Wednesday."

Rather than keep waiting, Clooney got proactive and issued this statement:

"Miss Huffington's blog is purposefully misleading and I have asked her to clarify the facts. I stand by my statements but I did not write this blog. With my permission Miss Huffington compiled it from interviews with Larry King and The Guardian. What she most certainly did not get my permission to do is to combine only my answers in a blog that misleads the reader into thinking that I wrote this piece. These are not my writings — they are answers to questions and there is a huge difference."

In the pulled-from-interviews quotes, Clooney criticizes the Democrats' failure to speak out about the Iraq invasion for fear of being criticized for being unpatriotic.

And the "Good Night, and Good Luck" writer-director-star also invokes Edward R. Murrow: “When you hear Murrow say, ‘We mustn’t confuse dissent with disloyalty’ ... it’s like he’s commenting on today’s headlines.”

Or today's blogs.

UPDATE: George is wrong, sez Arianna, and here’s her side of the story just emailed to "The Envelope" via publicist Ken Sunshine’s office.

“When I first invited George Clooney to blog after a screening of "Good Night, and Good Luck" in New York a few months ago, he said he wasn't sure how a blog worked. So we put together a sample blog from answers he had given on 'Larry King Live' and an interview with the Guardian in London, and sent it to him to rework in any way he wanted.

"A publicist working with George on the promotion of 'Good Night, and Good Luck,' emailed back saying, “I will get it to him and get back to you as soon as I hear anything.” Three days later, she emailed again, approving, without any changes, what we had sent: 'Of course this is fine, Arianna!'

"And once we had the approval, that’s what we ran: George Clooney’s words put into blog form.”

According to Shawn Sachs at Ken Sunshine’s office, Clooney's camp asked her to issue a statement saying she lied and misled Clooney, which she refused to do. “They also asked us to take down the blog which we did.”

Then why is it still up?

“It is?” asked Sachs.

Yup. Just click on the Huffington Post link in the item.

“Oh, you’re right. Here it is. I’ll call you back.”

UPDATE No. 2:

: Arianna Huffington has posted a full response on her blog, calling it an "honest misunderstanding." You can read her full statement here.

UPDATE No. 3- 11:34 AM PST: Ken Sunshine's office has emailed The Envelope to say that the Clooney blog is being removed from Huffington Post.

But Arianna's defense does not impress Clooney rep Stan Rosenfield much: "I read (Arianna's) response. This wasn't a misunderstanding. It was misrepresentation."

Clooney's camp insists they did not ask HuffPo to take down the item or to release a statement about lying and misrepresentation. They say they only asked for a posted qualifier explaining that the item was not written by Clooney but was a compilation of quotes from past interviews with Larry King and The Guardian.

So there.

Photo: No, George Clooney is not carrying a box of his political blogs. Because he doesn't write them and don't ask him to! He's actually filming his new movie "Michael Clayton" in New York.

I WISH THAT YOU WOULD PUT PICTURES OF BLACK AND WHITEPEOPLE DOING THINGS TOGATHER

BERT I am trying to follow your logic, I haven't been very successful.

Well at first I thought you were a true Ayn Rand fiscal conservative because you want to get the counrty out of debt. I would applaud that. But then you use liberal word like energize or communities, what the hell does that mean? You don't like oil and you don't like Cheney.

You sound like you are about in 10th grade and you have been listening to you neo-left-wing teacher spew on about how terrible America is.

You have to ask yourself a few things BERT...Whay are Democrats suddenly on the balanced budget bandwagon? They NEVER have been. Clinton used smoke and mirrors to make it appear that the budget was a little better but it was not real. You can refinance the national debt with the equivalent of a adjustable rate mortgage, cut military spending in half, ignore corporate fraud at Enron, Kmart, World Com....ETC and it looks good for your administration but makes things worse in the future.

What do you really want to do about our dependency on oil BERT? I am sure your parents drive you around in their SUVs. Since the economy runs on oil lets look at economic realities. Until some genius invents a replacement for the internal combustion engine we NEED oil.
The problem is Democrats don't want to drill for it here in America, they don't want to fight for it in foreign countries and they don't want to pay $3/gallon. So what gives?

If you think Holloywood actors are going to solve the worlds problems you are sadly mistaken. These people have trouble forming thoughts unless they are written out for them on a script. What is Clooney's business experience that will make him able to solve our problems. He's a good looking guy who is also a good actor but what else can he do? Not much. He has never met a payroll, he has never run a successful businesws.

And Charlie Sheen, I mean wow. I love 2 1/2 men but here is guy who would spend $50,000 a week on prostitutes, drink and drugs. He somehow thinks George Bush planted demolition explosives in the World Trade Center and that a strange missile hit thePentagon. I guess a commercial airliner full of American citizens that disappeared are in on the goverment conspiracy along with the airline. Wow. Charlie, stick to making movies about garbage men.

BERT, it is really sad that you only believe that people who play make believe for a living are the only ones who can turn things around.

I would suggest you read Ayn Rand's book Atlas Shrugged and you might see who are the ones who have the ability to make America that shining city on a hill once again.

Good Luck Kid,

Marcus Shelby

(PMCY) Patriot Motors

I wish Clooney, Sheen, et. al. WOULD write a blog, get a real national discussion going on where this country's headed unless people decide to drop what they're doing, think a bit, and speak OUT.

We've got a twice-over failed oil exec working with Hallicheney and all their cash-blinded hangers-on flying blind down the road to nowhere, the debt keeps piling up, not a peep about citizen's initiatives, and eveyrone waiting for 'the government' to fix things...Hollywood's good at science-fiction, let's see em do one on science FACT.

The way I see it, america's got 2 choices from where we are now: Continue with the oil dependency model, and let Exxon etc. keep running the country the way they have, setting us up for problem after problem, or We The People take the initiative to start solving our own problems. I don't mean to imply violence, but rather the capacity for thoughtful action. Every city, every county, every state has local representation. The sooner we can energize our communities at that level to operate honestly, ethically, effectively, and debt-free, the sooner Washington will have to sit up and take a good hard look at what they've been doing. GM's trying their hardest to turn around, can the 50 states do the same? This is a Big Challenge for democracy, inaction+free money from the government, or sweat equity and economic success
and the relative autonomy inherent thereto? Some states run 'in the black', and have for years. They do that by adhering to some good solid principles and making results happen locally. I think Clooney should run for office, personally, if he can get people to listen to reason, see the facts for themselves, then he'd be great as a leader. Charlie Sheen should think of doing the same. We need smart people in office willing to challenge the status quo and the 'official story', and actively encourage public debate on the issues. More power to em!

"The US government was rife with communist spies and the democrats were protecting them. and that is historical fact."

I've seen that alleged elsewhere. I wasn't born yet. But it has the appearance of truth because it would take so little effort to detract from that statement, and nobody ever does. Curious.

Another thing I find curious: Because of this whole WMD thing, I know what liberals sound like when conservatives say "there is something there" and then ensuing events support the idea that there never was anything there. In that set of circumstances liberals get really, really loud and really, really obnoxious. I know this is historical fact because I'm living it right now.

I don't see that reaction to your statement about Democrats providing cover for communist spies. This, also, gives me reason to accept your statement even though I wasn't born yet.

The ramifications are kind of unsettling, when one thinks about them.

Melanie,

I was responding to two people in my letter. So you do not believe the media has a leftist slant even though Dan Rather was fired for trying to use FORGED documents to steal the election for Kerry. THe docs were from 1972 and the font was one that was not even invented then. HA that is IRONY.

Saddams secret tapes that are being translated right now show the hiding of WMDs, co-operation with Al-Qeada and plotting of terrorists attacks in the USA.

These tapes will be the campaign commercials against democrats in the 2006 elections.

The majority of Americans do not feel that the left has the security of America as their highest interest. Congress and the Senate will remain in the hands of the GOP.

Maybe Charlie Sheen can explain how the Bush Administration planted demolitionj explosives in teh World Trade Center buildings to bring them down. HAHAHHAHAHA

In the US, we have the Bill of Rights . In our Bill of Rights, we are given certain freedoms including the freedom of speech. I agree with Mr. Clooney. His words were twisted around and posted out of context .

Marcus,

Perhaps it is you who should read slower. Where in the world did I ever mention, let alone "babble" about WMD? I never mentioned it once. I've been talking about movies, actors, and Hollywood. You're the one who's stuck with the republican talking points (kudos, I think you covered them all)...I've avoided them and tried to stick to the article topic.

Might I also suggest you look up the definition of irony, for the word serves no purpose in your comment.

Toodleloo!! I'm outie.

Melanie,

I will type slower so you can catch up on the irony of it all.

Keep blabbing about WMDs. You will find out soon enough that they are real.

Then what the heck will your message be in 2006?

Arianna's failure to attribute the **verbatim quotations** was certainly wrong.

But Arianna didn't try to convince us that Saddam Hussein had massive stockpiles of Weapons of Mass Destruction.
Arianna didn't lead us into a war that has so far has resulted in the extermination of approximately 180,000 Iraqi men, women and children.
Arianna didn't rape, torture, or bash any Iraqis to death at Abu Ghraib.
Arniana didn't "liberate" the Iraqis from their "evil tyrant", and then proceed to give the tyrant dental treatment and a haricut, while ordinary "liberated" Iraqis were tortured at Abu Ghraib.
Arianna doesn't sign-off with "Arianna MD", and then proceed to endorse and kosherize murder. (it was British DOCTORS who gave us the first scientific body-count).
Arianna , unlike Dubbya PNAC Bush, doesn't have blood on her hands.

And for those kool-aid swilling jokers pretending that the WMD's (selected as invasion pretext for "bureacratic reasons" - Wolfowitz) were flown to Syria [!!], I recommend that you google the unprecedented retraction and admission of WMD error by your favorite president: the president who was installed by faith-based proprietary vote registration and tabulating equipment during the final hours of selection 2004; the president who was court-appointed in 2000; the installed PNAC puppet who claims -- in a faith-based kind of way, without any hint of irony -- that he is "spreading democracy" around the world.

If conservatives need Clooney to open his mouth to further their agenda they have more serious problems than I thought.

Clooney, like everyone positing on this blog has a right to object to the direction his government is taking. The last time I checked actors pay taxes too.

No. How did you get that?

Melanie,

Are you inferring that the mainstream media has a strong leftward slant?

And Bruce Willis was in "Ocean's 12" with George Clooney and Julia Roberts. Oh the horror!

All your cut n' paste shows is that reporters on the press junket have been asking him about his political leanings (as they do with Clooney, et all). Reporters. Not Hollywood insiders, studios, and those in power. It doesn't indicate that he has problems with his peers in Hollywood for it. Sounds like he's tired of reporters trying to makes something of it.

I GUESS IT ISN'T SO EASY BEING A REPUBLICAN IN HOLLYWOOD.

Willis unleashes over inquiry into dark (GOP) past

Mar. 2, 2006 12:00 AM

In Hollywood social circles, identifying oneself as Republican is tantamount to admitting an unwholesome attraction to preschoolers or a craving for the tender flesh of kittens.

So you might see why star Bruce Willis is a little testy that having outed himself as a member of the GOP in the past, reporters keep asking about his distasteful political affiliation.

MSN Entertainment offers this quote from the 16 Blocks press tour, in which we substitute the names of cartoon dogs for Willis' more impassioned verbiage: advertisement

"I'm sick of answering this (Marmaduke) question," Willis says. "I'm a Republican only as far as I want a smaller government, I want less government intrusion. I want them to stop (Mutley-ing) on my money and your money and tax dollars that we give 50 percent of . . . every year. I want them to be fiscally responsible and I want these (Scooby-Doo) lobbyists out of Washington. Do that, and I'll say I'm a Republican. . . . I hate the government, OK? I'm apolitical. Write that down. I'm not a Republican."

Sure gets both their names in print. Arianna loves a little spotlight no matter what color. And this non-story doen't hurt either one of them.

Hey March,

Instead of attacking me personally maybe you could actually present an intelligen debate. I guess you might not have the proper tools for that though. So you live in Europe with your 15% unemployment, $8/gallon gas and 50%+ in taxes. Good for you and even better for America.

If you actually made a statement I can repsond to I would instead you presented a bunch of jibberish.

If Chamberlin would have gone after Adolf like Churchill wanted in '36 maybe we would not have lot over 50 million inhabitants of planet Earth during World War II. That was the point I was making in regard to Iraq. Sorry if it went over your head March, I could type a little slower if it will help you out.

My other point is the Democrats are placing all their hopes on impeaching Bush for their campaign message in the 2006 mid term elections. When Saddam's tapes are fully released you will hear of connections to Al-Qeada, flying WMD's to Syria disguised as humanitarian missions and plans of hitting the USofA with terrorist attacks.

These tapes will be Republican campaign commercials against the Democrats and they will work. Howard Dean has also done a lousy job of securing campaign funds for the election.

Katrina was both a screw up at the federal level, mostly GOP and the Democrat Governor and Democrat Mayor. How can you look at 250 school buses under water and not think Chocolate City Nagin dropped the ball. If you look at teh Hurricane evacuation plan that Nagan himself put together it says New Orleans will evacuate citizens with SCHOOL BUSES. No amount of left wing PROPAGANDA spin can vanish that fact.

My nephew just came back from his 2nd tour of duty in Iraq. He said the soldiers and most of teh people are extremely greatfull that we are there. I guess that doesn't sell many newspapers though.

And Melanie if Jessica didn't want to hang with Bush because he is polling 34%, which makes sense with the amount of left wing main stream media constant barage of negative articles against him, so why did she meet with Governor Richardson? The Democrats are only polling 26%.

Sorry, "Million Dollar Baby" won 4 Academy Awards, not 8...my bad.

I thought this was going to be a discussion about the content and context of Clooney's statements and how Huffington used them. Instead, it's the usual right vs. left battle of the extremists. Red against Blue, Bloods against Crips. Gang mentality. There is no middle ground. You're with us or you're against us.

Haliburton just got a $385 million contract to build a concentration camp -- excuse me, 'temporary detention facilities' -- within the US borders. I wonder how long before the liberals have to wear an identifying mark so they can be rounded up easily?

Man when i see people like that Shelby, thank God i'm living in Europe!! How can somebody be so...confused...or simpleton....for lack of a better word. Nixon?Hitler?Hollywood?Mel Gibson? it's like these guys live in a world Oliver Stone made up...but then again he's a loony, right? What really gets to me is the narrow mindness of the arguments...it's like listening to first graders...my weener's bigger, take that!...Geez....i guess neocons are slowly but surely running out of ammo and are panicking like a bunch of headless chickens...They know everything they hoped for is going down the drain: iraq,haliburton,abugraib,katrina,enron...i mean gimme a break, enuf said. and please don't use God as an excuse for your faillings!...that's stooping really low...

This article was about how The Huffington Post published a blog by George Clooney that Mr. Clooney didn't write and how both sides seem to have a different version of events on how this happened.

From Mr. Clooney's perspective, it is a really big that quotes from interviews are taken to "create" a blog that he didn't write. This changes then entire meaning of each of these individual quotes, or statements, from when he gave because they are taken out of context and re-assembled in a different manner. Anybody who has any role in the public eye has to deal with PR and public appearances, this is a huge deal. This could be a CEO, The President of The United States, a news anchor, a sports star, an actor, director, or run of the mill celebrity. This is his "image" that is being published. He has every right to care about it.

As for how The Huffington Post "submitted" a sample blog for George's approval, as they claim, and thus, Mr. Clooney never really wrote a blog that THP posted as a blog: in publishing this behavior happens all the time, it's called ghost writting. Most books that are written by celebrities (sports stars, actors, directors, this list goes on...) are usually written not by the celebrity but by someone else entirely. The star jots down an outline, maybe tells their life story into a little handheld recorder, somebody else writes the entire book, but the celebrity is credited as the author on the cover and the actual author gets a thank you inside the book. This sells more books (and it makes the reading more enjoyable). This is called life.

Needless to say, all of the comments had nothing to do with actual story, but instead attacked Arianna Huffinton and George Clooney in either really childish namecalling or really hatefilled bile. And, it seems the only reason that people are attacking them are because they are " perceived liberals", it's black or white. Nobody seems to be able to discuss and debate the issues at all.

As for some of the individual comments, there may have been some communists in our government back during the cold war, but all of the democrats were not protecting them. And to be a communist does not make you a spy for the Soviet Union. After the great depression in this country, many people were really upset with things and some Americans joined the communist party here in America. Anybody has a right to belong to any political party and have any political views here in America. What happened when the cold war started, and the Soviet Union was a communist stat, people in power here in America equated communism with no belief in God, namely a Chirstian God. It was during this time that "under God" was added to the Pledge of Allegience, and anybody who at anytime had been a member of the communist party had to come forward and admit it to Congress and name names of other people who also had been a member or be held in contempt, because all of these people were "traitors" and "un-American" and "not God-fearing Christians". This destroyed peoples lives, it ruined their careers because our government stuck its nose into peoples' business. People who went to one communist meeting and had done nothing else got fired from their jobs, couldn't find work and support their families and on and on. So, this is all very serious stuff. You may disagree with the issues, but I think it is incrediblely rude to just dismiss someone with name calling and not engage them on the issues.

One more thing, most of the liberals that I know are smart, funny, engaging, sometimes cynical, and they try to understand all sides--that doesn't mean they agree with them. Most of the conservatives I know, I have met and I read about are crass, loud, obnoxious, judgemental, self-rightous, self-invloved, self-centered, and sometimes mean-spirited and down right cruel with a mean sense of humor. And the postings to this article proved me right.

I believe Ariana.
George lied in his acceptance speech before millions so why believe anything else he says? Blacks weren't forced to sit in the back of theatres- that's where the best seats are! Hollywood didn't touch the AIDS epidemic when it was first diagnosed in 1981 or when Time Magazine and all the major news featured in in 1983 or Rock Hudson admitted he had it in 1985. Hollywood was the LAST to cover AIDS. Clooney is a liar! Araian, you go girl!

Many of these comments beg me to ask the question... when did the LA Times become Free Republic?

SO WHERE IS THE TEXT OF THIS BLOG? THEY SEEMED TO HAVE TAKEN IT DOWN FROM THE ORIGIONAL SITE.

Marcus.... and Kelsey Grammer has 3 movies coming out this year. Busy, busy, busy!

Marcus Shelby~ My husband, our friends, and some family ARE the little people in Hollywood and we know plenty of working conservatives who are just as vocal about their stance as we are in ours. So, no, I don't know what you're talking about with this "blackballing". It's crap.

Clint Eastwood? Seriously? You think he hasn't been busy? Last year, at the 2005 Oscars, his movie "Million Dollar Baby" won best picture, he won best director, there were a total of 8 wins for his picture. In 2004 "Mystic River" was nominated for best picture and best director, also Clint's movie. His next project is "Flags of Our Fathers" that he is directing for Speilberg's company. Doesn't sound so bad to me.

The Jessica Simpson thing probably has less to do with her being a conservative than it does with Bush's approval ratings being at 34%...hell, even the republicans in congress are distancing themselves from that albatross.

Mel Gibson's movie sucked. Just because a movie makes a great deal of money doesn't mean it is a great, Oscar worthy movie.... "Big Mama's House 2" comes to mind.

I think the fall in ticket sales has more to do with the $12 price tag and being forced to sit through commercials before the movie starts rather than some imagined boycott. What used to be an affordable family night out, is cheaper to do at home on your big screen tv.

The only famous Simpsons I know of are Bart's family. Is Jessica a relative or, for that matter, relative?

Ooooooh. Pretty people talking. See how pretty their lips are? We should all discuss this all day. Every day. It's the most important thing. It's the only thing we should do with our time....everybody agrees. Let's just talk about how much we enjoy watching the pretty people talk.

We should all just talk too. Talk, talk, talk. That's how everything in the whole wide world got created right? People talking. Talking, talking, talking, just like us.

What a great life we have....we get to spend every day, every week, every year...watching pretty people on flickering screens, and talking, talking, talking. Thanks to those boring, not-pretty medical guys (who are tooooooooooo expensive, LOL) we can do this for, like, 80 years now.

Oh, and btw? If you don't like me, but you're not REALLY PRETTY, I don't care. LOL.

Can't wait to go out and pretend to my friends that I voted! LOL

Re:liberal treatment of conservatives. I was "born" a Democrat and remained a liberal Democrat for many years. I worked in a profession dominated by liberal Democrats like myself. Occasionally, a conservative Republican showed up and attempted to express an opinion about matters political. I am not proud to say that I joined the "herd of independent minds" in
becoming angry at the upstart's nerve in believing he had a right to a contrary opinion and to disagree with us -who were so clearly always correct. Social ostracism is a weapon we employed as a matter of course. I realize now that I was using emotion rather than facts to justify whatever it was I believed in. I also have come to rethink my positions and see now that I was simply wrong about the factual bases of much of what I believed. I am no longer a Democrat. I am hunkered down now and waiting for the attacks!

Come on people, George Clooney isn't a liberal, he is a Neocon! Max Boot said so in this very newspaper a couple of days ago.

Melanie, I was referring to the regular jobs in Hollywood. You know all those "little people" to you. The ones whos names you don't reconize as the screen credits roll by. If you let you political bent slip out you won't get asked back to the next movie.

If you think Hollywood doesn't discrimnate why do you think Jessica Simpson cancelled her meet and great with the President yesterday? Her agent called her and said she was getting a lot of flak and might get blackballed in the future. That's what happened.

You don't think Mel Gibson was snubbed? His movie made more than the next top 5 movies and he doesn't even get a nomination, give me a break Melanie. I don't need to perpetuate a myth, it is plain as day. And Kelsey Grammer, oh yeah, he has been real busy lately. And Clint Eastwood too.

What current big name strar is a true conservative and is very open about it....NONE.

I've seen a key grip fired on the spot because he came to work in a Club Gitmo t-shirt. The left is the disciminator in this indistry.

The real problem is the lies in movies. Clooney acts as if there was no communist infiltration in Hollywood and the State Department. It was proven true once teh Soviet Union fell. At least he could have been honest about that. It kills me that Hollywood can't figure out why their receipts keep falling. Besides the lousy movies America is in teh middle of a full scale Hollywood BOYCOTT. And good for them.

When will Clooney make a movie about teh Saddam tapes and documents that are coming out. They show Al-Qeada WAS in Iraq, He did have WMDs and sent them to Syria in a hollowed out 747 and 737, 24 flights disguised as humanitarian missions. He was playing cat and mouse games with UN weapons inspectors.

Thank God Bush has the guts to do what it takes and not allow Saddam to become another Hitler. You remember how the LEFT wanted to appease Hitler? How the LEFT wanted teh UN, the league of nations then, to only impose SANCTIONS on Hitler. How Hitler was only a two bit little dictator and would never cause much trouble? The LEFT was wrong then and they are wrong today. How is it that the LEFT thinks that there is no evil in the world today???

I know, because they thin k there is no God either.

the blog entry was fake but accurate.

Sounds like Mr. Clooney needs to have a little talk with his publicist, the screwup seems to be entirely hers in giving out his "approval" when he emphatically did not wish it to be given.

Trying to shift the blame onto Arianna is just juvenile.

Now, can we go back to working together to get rid of the crooks and liars who are driving the country into the ditch?

America, do you know where the statue of liberty came from ????!!!!!!!!

""Try and get a job in moives or TV if you are a conservative. They blackball you. Talk about discrimination"".~Marcus Shelby

You mean like Clint Eastwood, Robert Duvall, Kelsey Grammer, Mel Gibson, Patricia Heaton, Dwayne Johnson "The Rock", Emily Proctor, Jessica Simpson....Mickey Rooney??? Yeah, they've got it really rough, the poor saps.

Nope. It's just people like you that perpetuate that myth.

You of the 33% who STILL back this fallen regime can't hold a candle to George Clooney. You've got your George, who is a drunk, a failure, incompetent, ignorant, hypcritical, irresponsible, sloppy, ill-spoken, a liar, and the most unpopular human in the world. And we've got ours, who is drop-dead gorgeous, courageous, intelligent, successful, creative, enlightened and classy, and admired the world over. We've got a fox, you've got a monkey. No wonder you're so pissed off.

Get over it, we've got a much, much bigger fight on our hands, with the immediate one being getting control of congress this year. This kind of bs is disheartening.

Liberal: I can't believe George Bush won, I don't know anyone who voted for him.

They said the same thing about Nixon.

Conservatives have always welcomed liberals under or tent. come and hang out with us, work with us and have a beer with us. Liberals try to shun conservatives. They actually discriminate against conservatives in Hollywood and in the classrooms. Look at all teh wacky comments that come out of the mouth of some of these teachers and professors. thank God some kids are starting to record these traitors. It must be nice to get paid with tax payer money and have no chance of ever getting fired while having June, July and August off. And you are putting pout a lousy prduct. Other countries are beating our students and they spend less money per pupil.

Hollywood and Clooney do not get it. There is a full scale BOYCOTT of liberal Hollywood. Try and get a job in moives or TV if you are a conservative. They blackball you. Talk about discrimination.

I will not see movies by the American haters. Clooney, Depp, Julia Robers, Streisand, ETC

The World Fastest Indian was wonderful.

If these clowns protested when Clinton started a war for oil in Kosovo or when Clinton sold the Long Beach port to the Communist Chinese Military for campaign cash I could see their point, but they are truly HYPOCRITES to only complain about one side.

God almighty! WHO CARES about George Clooney and his "to blog or not to blog" dilemma? He's not even a good actor.

I mean does anybody really care? Can't believe people don't have more interesting things to do on the Web than this.

My, my, my. It appears that "George" (Clooney) doesn't appreciate being treated like "George W" gets treated by the same media all the time. Welcome to the "twisted facts" media Mr. Clooney. A little of your own medicine me thinks....smile!

The fundamental issue is simply the right of free speech. I do not necessarily agree with Mr. Clooney, nor do I necessarily agree with everyone who has the opportunity to address the public freely and frequently, however, free speech is one of our rights. If Mr. Clooney did not approve of his transcripts being selectively edited then he indeed has a right to be displeased. Thank (fill in the blank) that we live in America where we can actually have these discussions without fear of reprisal, namely, serious bodily harm, loss of freedom or loss of life.

Stumbled onto this thread...bored...

If a citizen of this near-Great country wants to offer his thoughts,it's within his protected right. If a public wishes to boycott his future endeavors, it is fundamental to a free market economy to do so. Those that make their living from the public's free market decisions would do well to consider the impact of their thoughts and their control of the medium in which these thoughts are communicated.

I agree with the chap that encouraged us to read more.

How does being an actor make you more or less correct or relevant? Have any of you read Malcolm Gladwell?

This is sad. It's typical of the problems with the thinkers on the left, they just can't get their act together and stay on the same page. I love and respect Clooney because he keeps it real and is proud of his liberal tag. But you would think that he and Huffington would have gotten their act together before she posted his comments on her blog?

Personally, I agree with what he said, but I think it's sad that this controversy is clouding his message.

What can I say? Other than good night and good luck George. -That was too easy :)

I thought all the liberals were moving to Canada if Bush won...? I mean what ever happened to that...? I'll tell you that was a GREAT idea! In fact, it was about tho ONLY thing they've had to offer this country in years! (besides obstructing, undermining and lending aid/comfort to our enemies of course)
You belong at hockey games, booing the US National Anthem.

Clooney is a great actor, but that is where it ends. Until he comes out into the light and quits hiding behind the lies and money of Beverly Hills he has absolutely no credibility whatsoever. It was people like him that waited for Hitler to invade all of Europe and North Africa before they stopped calling him misunderstood. We struggled for over ten years to turn Japan into what it is today, it will not be so easy for Iraq. Saddam was evil, the Intelligence was correct, and the world is better off as a result. Get over it!

George Clooney can be wrong sometimes but he certainly maintains more class than many of his peers.

Thank God I read this. This is sooo important. Hell, I was worried about the people in Sudan and the soldiers in Iraq. Fortunately the real issues are still being discussed.

""FYI, what Clooney did or did not write is not called a "blog." It would be called a "blog post."

Anal much?

The important thing is they're both on the same page. Making something out of nothing only diffuses the real problem -- George Bush's presidency.

"A useful idiot is worth a hundred trained agents." Channeled at a seance with Vladimir Lenin, who gave me permission to post to any blog I like.

While some actors are morons & some are brilliant -- the fact remains that George Clooney's got a right to be heard. NOT as a celebrity, NOT as an actor, but rather, as an AMERICAN CITIZEN.

THIS IS OUR RIGHT.

If a celebrity, or a teacher, or a homeless person, or a stripper wants to say what's on their mind -- FANTASTIC.

SPEAK UP

Who cares what an insignificant person like George Clooney has to say? You want to do something George other than hide behind inane comments made in a foreigh country? Run for public office George. What are you afraid of? At least your dad had the guts to do it. I'll tell you exactly why you won't George; it's because the reality of how insignificant you and your comments are would shine through. Come on George; be a REAL MAN for once in your life and put your money where your mouth is. One other thing George; your moronic statement at the phony Oscars show about how your proud of Hollywood? Is this the same Hollywood that went in hiding when fellow artist Theo van Gogh was muredered by islamic fanatics? Where was your courage to speak out there George? Is this the same courageous Hollywood that had to change the bad guys in the Tom Clancy movie ""The Sum of All Fears" from islamic fanatics to Russians? Is that the courageous Hollywood you speak of George? Reality George is it's the courage of the American Soldier that allows you and your pretentious fellow phonies in Hollywood to spew out idiotic comments. Thank God for the American Soldier George. You and your alleged couragous Hollywood can kiss my fat arse.

I wish more people could spell, regardless of how they vote.

If liberals are empty headed, then why do Conservatives parrot terms like Looney Clooney? I guess when the pot controls everything, it can call the kettle black as loud and long as it wants.

I happen to agree with Clooney politically, but even if I didn't, I would respect that he makes a valid and well articulated point without having to resort to bitter, mean spirited and even racist venom like Coulter, O'Reilly, Limbaugh (The list goes on...)

And on the actual topic of this article, Clooney has said time and again that he really wants to be careful with how his opinion gets out into the ether, which is why he didn't accept an invitation to work on the Kerry campaign. So he has every right to expect accuracy with his quotes and ideas and how they are attributed.

By the way, I seem to remember Army Brass being behind the destruction of the traitorous McCarthy and not the Democratic party. It wasn't until he went after the army that the hammer really came down on him. And I happen to believe that the army would have no interest in hiding Communists. Oh, but I guess a bunch of conservative thugs will try to re-write that part of history as well.

Mr. Clooney, I think that he is "backtracking" I think that he probably never saw the items that were going to be printed. I think that his assistant, never got around to showing Clooney. When The Post got back to her asking about the Blog, she was flustered and just sent a response that everything was great and not to make any corrections. Now after there has been some backlash, they are trying to find a way out. I think that Clooney is taking out his anger on Arianna,(who not many people agree with). But even Fox News and MSN state she has always been prudent and clear about her information.and research. I think she is right and he is wrong on this one.

"It's funny that a guy who couldn't make it past his freshman year at drama school should be considered a serious, important person with serious, important things to say because he is good at memorizing scripts."

HE IS JUST AN ACTOR THEY SAY

I read a few of the responses to Clooney's ghost blog and was really surprised at how quick some of the comments were to dismiss him as "just an actor." I don't recall this being an issue when Arnold run. Did they say that about Sonny Bono? George is a man who has a unique perspective of American discourse influenced by the work of his TV man father, Nick Clooney. He is just an actor they say. He comes from a legacy I say.

George Bush senior thinks that acting can be very instructive ... why else would he recommend that folks saw "Glory Road"? It might have been instructive to Bush too had he seen it when voting on the civil rights act (I believe he voted against it). Both Bushes turned up at the funeral of Coretta Scott King, but neither one - based on their track record -- exhibited nor exhibits a contextual knowledge of Civil Rights -- but speak they did. Bush Sr even told us folks that we should go see a movie we already knew well!

This actor man not only memorizes scripts, but he WRITES them. He can DIRECT them -- but more compelling than that is that he produces them. While I see that executive producing is often considered "in name only". This a man who worked with a 7 million dollar budget very intimately - met the needs of the project within budget and gave us a product, by all external observation, on time. I ask you: Who are the people voted to local or national office? People from the business world who believe their experiences recommend them well. They will mount their campaign talking about how well they ran their businesses, how well they understand the economic needs of their community. Many will be in real estate or have a law degree. Mr. Clooney owns outright at least two houses, and currently working on development in Las Vegas to the tune of over one BILLION dollars.

Having worked on campaigns for mayors, city council, state legislators and congress persons - I can tell you that his experience, ability to articulate and argue points and "X" factor that many a politician dream of recommends him VERY well for having a public political position.

I think it is naive not to recognize that many of these actors make quite a bit of money, AND they also have the other currency -- the ability to bring attention to topics and issues. That is the earning power of ANY money. You have money, you pretty much have power. Does that make him a good decision maker? He can't be any worse than what we have now. George's written response to the misrepresented blog shows a real political understanding of the subtleties of intellectual property, and misrepresentation and misleading documentation - the very focus of his anti war sentiment

Jello, Delois…

I’m 61 years old and I wouldn’t have voted for Ronald Reagan for dogcatcher, not once. I served in Vietnam. In Combat. 1st Cav. And I’m so disgusted by this administration that I moved to Ireland. For good. Whether I am a Christian or not is irrelevant and I have no respect for morons who carry their idols so self-righteously before them, whatever they might be.

I think you may assume Hollywood values money, above all. And I do grow weary of self-proclaimed mainstream Americans like Mr. Delois, who won’t stop whining that some films do not reflect his alleged working class values. Well, art isn’t responsible for pandering to anybody’s values. That’s what FOX is for. Reinforcing the ignorance you wear so proudly on your sleeve

I suggest you lads get off the couch, visit the library, grab a few books, learn a few things about your values and then use your noggins to put them to the test. What the hell do you care what George Clooney thinks? YOU start thinking.

I can only imagine what it must feel like to have a celebrity hate you when you are Arianna. And to expose her personal dirt for all the world see like that is pretty ironic.. I wonder what Arianna must feel like now, 'tanblogging' in the Carribean. To have to put up with scandal while on vacation is one of the worst Hollywood experiences to imagine. When Oscar winning George Clooney hates you it's like being kicked out of Hollywood. If I were Arianna, I would put down that tanblogging lotion and fly back to LA. This is what everyone is talking about right now .

The best part though is seeing the lies and the headline tampering finally catch up to her.

It's going to be a whole new world for you, Miss Stassinopoulos.

Yes, JelloMold, I agree...an Independent...A two party system that has been taken over by money interests that represent GLOBALISM and not the United States of America isn't worth supporting. Welcome to fascism in it's rapidly growing infancy. Next thing you know they'll demand you get a poorly developed, dangerous, non-functional vaccine against a birdbrained flu. Read the thinkscapes.com site,
thoughtfood and health buttons, and find out more about what has been going on while you're 'having dinner.'

Peace,
Mary Ann

"Clooney is a misguided but useful idiot. He helps the conservatives each and every time he opens his misguided mouth. Too bad."

Poor poor what's his name oh yea Clooney....yea, but at least he has the guts to speak his mind...even if he does not have one~! Must say though...I like him as an actor...only. I will not pay to see his films, but will watch them if they are free.

Approval Ratings are how libocrats govern, not Bush, thank God. As 4 ZSA ZSA Huffington, what a fake, phony, fraud!!!!!!

I can not believe that I am hearing a democrat claiming his own words are being used against him. This is classic and I cant"t wait for O'Reilly to have a field day with this one. As trivial as this spat seems in the REAL world, it sounds like too many people on the payroll doing other people's jobs. too much money and fluff. Arri and her SUV hating gas guzzling jet flying self spinning Clooney's answers is just CLASSIC! Thanks for the laugh while i shuffle through the KATRINA AFTERMATH down here in my hometown!

Shouldn't we be more upset about things like, oh, let's see:

Hurricane Katrina response
911 commission gaps and non-response by the White House
No WMD's in Iraq
Wire-tapping of innocent civilians w/no warrants
Jack Abramoff
Enron
Bush ties to the UAE and Saudis, not to mention this port-deal thing.
Or any of about 1000 other issues that this administration has bungled or blantantly ignored?

I have to say I could give a sh*t about George Clooney/Arianna Huffington's miscommunication or whatever the hell it is.

The reaction of the pro-administration folks is HILARIOUS! You boycott good movies because you don't like the actor? How incredibly silly is that? You says things like Hollyweird, which lumps everybody in the film and entertainment industry into one group, yet your own pundits are also part of that group. The collective resistance to progressive thoughts and ideas (especially when they mimic the thoughts and ideas of conservative heavyweights) is absolutely priceless. Supporters of the Bush administration are reduced to petty insults and stereotypes, while completely bereft of original thought. Clooney, actor or not, makes some fantastic points. Blindly following any government is unpatriotic if that government is an enemy of freedom. Murrow's words are powerful in today's world. The refusal of the "right" to acknowledge the assaults on our civil liberties simply heighten the need for voices of "dissent."

My name is George Clooney and I didn't write this.

And how exactly is this scandal? Trolls at Huffpo were crying their heads off about this, so I had to read a synopsis.

How is this news, except for something that the neocons can use as an attempt to distract attention away from the outting of a CIA anti-terror operation, lying to justify the occupation an oil-rich middle eastern country, or enriching his family and friends by selling U.S. ports to a 911 country?

Brian, that was the best post I ever read...Hilarious. Keep em coming.

I think and have always thought Arianna Huffington is an ass - she does no service to woman let alone politicians. She is a blow hard and gets way too defensive when ANYONE dissagrees with her - I cannot tell you how many times I wanted to throw something threw my TV when she had the STONES to run for Govenor and sat there pontificating about political issues - she sounds like one of the Gabor sisters! This has been a misunderstanding daaalings, yeah right! She is aptly named - HUFFING-TON Good for George Clooney - I would vote for him before I would ever vote for her!

I think she is as warm as a snake! I apologize for insulting the snake!

Was Huffington a Clinton speechwriter or something? Her "clarification" is positively Clintonian in its vagueness! (by the way, her handlers at HuffPo did not publish this comment...so it must cut close to the truth) Here's a deconstruction:

"When I first invited George Clooney to blog after a screening of "Good Night, and Good Luck" in New York a few months ago, he said he wasn't sure how a blog worked."

ME: But did he say he'd blog if someone helped him? You left that part out.

"So we put together a sample blog from answers he had given on 'Larry King Live' and an interview with the Guardian in London, and sent it to him to rework in any way he wanted."

ME: Did you tell the publicist that you were going to use the comments in a blog post on HuffPo that was going to be made to look as though George posted it? Did you mention that this was all a gambit to use Clooney's name and likeness to make your site look credible? Did you consider that, since you had the first half of the convo with Clooney himself, it might be important to have the second half with him as well?

"A publicist working with George on the promotion of 'Good Night, and Good Luck,' emailed back saying, “I will get it to him and get back to you as soon as I hear anything.” Three days later, she emailed again, approving, without any changes, what we had sent: 'Of course this is fine, Arianna!'"

ME: Once again, was the publicist aware of the PURPOSE of the quotes?

"And once we had the approval, that’s what we ran: George Clooney’s words put into blog form."

ME: Because we realized we'd been able to exploit a miscommunication caused by us, post the comments as though George had was a HuffPo contributor, ask forgiveness later, and get TONS of publicity for our failing riff on the Drudge Report. Yeah!!

I think Cloony's participation in "goodnight and goodluck" really does show that George is, in his heart, a traitor.

He had to have done the research on what really happened during these years, and known that there really were communist plants in the government and in Hollywood. (It all was proven beyond ANY doubt when the papers were all revealed after the Soviet Union fell.)

If Cloony was being intellectually honest, the message of his film should have been "McCarthy was right but was hounded out of office by an out-of-control newsman."

Instead, he twisted the truth in such a way that it aids and abets the goals of our enemies and further extends the proven lie that says the McCarthy trials were a politically motivated witchhunts that came from baseless political paranoia.

That Cloony knew this and chose to make McCarthy look like the enemy - rather than set the record straight and tell the truth - says a lot about what side George is really on.

Also, I too, have been "barred' or 'blacklisted' from Ms. Huffington's site! It seems that a woman who supposedly couldn't realize her husband was GAY (or perhaps drove him over the edge) and an actor who still thinks he is playing 'Booger' on the Roseanne Show have gotten into a tiff about whom is the greater LIBERAL! Where are 'pet rocks' when you need them?! When either can answer truthfully who owns Halliburton, or what John Kerry did at his all-female chocolate chip cookie business, or why Al Gore continues to make outrageous claims about everything - perhaps then these two democrat droids will finally be allowed back on the real solar system.

I'm 50 yrs old, and I voted for Ronald Reagan twice. I serviced in the Contra War in a Guard Construction Unit in Honduras, and I used to think that I loved my country. I am a Christian and I have no use for "Hollyweird" values, but neither do I have any use for the "values" of a "Conservative" poltical movement that trades freedoms for stock options and falsely labels legitimate debate as treason. It's increasingly obvious that my own GOP has become a bastion for a new generation of intolerant "Know-Nothings." You should be ashamed, you are as silly and duplicitous as Huffington. Patriots come in all political flavors. Alas, so do scoundrels.

"George is wrong, sez Arianna"

Did the person who wrote this even go to elementary school?

Well, I am just tired of all the Hollywood types in their expensive clothes, cars, homes, immoral behavior, etc. telling me, the poor working class slob what I should think. Go get a real job and you won't have time to sound off. Frankly, I don't care what George Boy, Barbra or any of the rest of them say. Thats why I refuse to support them financially by viewing their liberal movies. Hum! Wonder if the author will approve this one.

What is the exchange rate for an oscar vs nobel prize? Are they worth about the same now? Maybe it would be something for George to consider, if only for something new.
I can whip up an acceptance speech for Arianna to submit to George for his approval. I think it will be along the lines of the post above; "Posted by: Brian | March 15, 2006 at 12:17 PM "

What is a "misguided mouth?"

This is too funny.

Hilarious. All this stink over some guy that looks good on TV. Liberals unite and keep pumping the Huffington-Kerry-Clooney-Dean lines. You're making it too easy for GOP to win.

At Arianna's website I asked Ms. Huff and Puff to face up to her hypocrisy, pretense and fabrication regarding the Clooney post. When I also suggested that her distortion of the record was just another turn of her faux persona, she decided to censor my rather innocuous comments, This is what gets me. She says "99% of our bloggers blog directly onto the site (they have a password that enables them to post on their own; the first time we see their posts is when you do -- when it goes up on The Blog!" This is yet another fabrication, All three of my comments, including the one telling Arianna, "Good Night and Good Luck" were refused by her handlers. So much for freedom of expression at Ms. Huffington's website.

While I certainly disagree w/ Mr. Clooney politically & morally, no one that has ever read the Huffington Post can really claim to be surprised by this. The most important thing & over looked in all of the responses here & that I have read about this, is that if this is how they treat their political allies over at the Huffington Post & how they present information, what does this say about what she & her fellow blog contributors attitudes, ponderings, postings & commenters about those they are not in step with? If they are willing to misquote or present a statement that isn’t really one, how can they be expected to be believed about anything posted over there, period, much less respected? They can’t & it only shows their “ends justifies the means” approach for what it is.

Come on George..you must know better than to play in traffic...leave the politics to the politicians..you are only going to get hurt..because you care..they don't...

As for as AriAnnah... go get her Georgie...

George is one of the classiest men in Hollywood, up there with Redford and Newman.
George Clooney for PRESIDENT. I want to run your campaign! I'll make Mary Matalin look like Martha Stewart!

Give a Texan a break. Delay stepped up to the plate and Texas WAS redistricted (from decades of dominant Democratic districts) to fair and balanced districts; in spite of outrageous shennanigans pulled by Texas Democrats. As a result, he has a renegade Democratic prosecutor after him any way he can get him. Doesn't matter if his own group of working lawyers warn him "Delay may have done all you say - but EARL!!! _ is it illegal?"! If Abraham is singing about Delay, I have yet to hear the song...

Yeah Bush is at 36% but the democrat congress is polling at 26%.

Looks good for 2006. Especially when the Saddam tapes come out where he talks about hiding WMDs from the UN wepaons inspectors and once Amercia reads teh book by the Iraqi General where he talks about Saddam requesting humanitarian flighths to Syria because a damn broke there. He hollowed out a 747 and a 737, loaded his WMDs and made 24 flights to Syria.

The Anti-Security DNC will still be a minority in December 2006. Of course they will claim the election was stolen.

Wait until Black America wakes up and sees what a rip off Social in-Security has been for them since they die on average at age 65. The will start voting for the GOP as they flee the Democrat Plantation. They want SS privatization and school choice vouchers.

Arianna, marry Clooney and maybe you can turn him gay too.

Ari-wanna be famous. She only became a lib after her divorce from her Republican husband. Hell hath no fury like a woman's scorn. And listening to her screeching voice is hell as well.
As far as Clooney goes he's a B actor who thinks too much of himself. It's his duty to educate the rest of us who aren't in Hollywood. They have all the knowledge. He's so brave to do a historical movie. Big deal! He's proud to be 'out of touch'. Wow, a real hero. A regular Audie Murphy.

Hmmm... another case of "fake, but accurate".

http://texasrainmaker.blogspot.com

Give me a break! More like a modern day Rock Hudson than a modern day Cary Grant! Apologies to Rock Hudson

FYI, what Clooney did or did not write is not called a "blog." It would be called a "blog post."

A blog is made up of many posts. A post cannot be called a blog. Or if you prefer, blog entries. But blog blogs? No.

Please take the time to understand the proper terminology.

He has every right to be upset. He was misprepresented. It was deceitful of Huffington to present it as if Clooney wrote a blog on her site. I'm disappointed because I enjoy reading her site. Now I wonder which blogs are bogus and which are legit.

I also wonder why a bunch of people who are quite obviously not Clooney fans are busy wasting their time reading about the trials and tribulations of his life and leaving comments about it under an article about Clooney. You sure are expending a great deal of energy about a person you claim to have no interest in. Pathetic.

To paraphrase one Mr. Clooney "why would anyone want to name someone whose last name ends in looney?" Like Alex Baldwin he assumes that everyone is in love with him and he can do no wrong when he is a second rate actor who make provocative statements to keep his name in the forefront. Would I go or recommend one of his movies? No way!!!!!

I don't understand why movie consumers get so upset when a celebrity expresses their opinion, as if the consumer is REQUIRED to believe it. Could it be that the consumer really DOES think the celebrity is some sort of divine being and when the divine being says things that displease the consumer, the consumer gets pissed off at said divine creature. Perhaps it's an odd father complex or something. Or maybe the consumer is just jealous because his or her voice, though equally valid, is not as big. Maybe they should be mad at their elected officials instead since they are the actual representatives of their interests (you know: laws and stuff?).

Bush's approval rating is 37%.
That Dick, Cheney's approval rating is 17%.

More people agree with Clooney than with the neo-con-artists.
Smoke that you right wing trolls.

Isn't it rather interesting that the most verbose post against Bush and his policies - by Mr. Michael K - is nearly impossible to read, due to his complete lack of grammar and spelling? Well, OK it IS possible to read, but it's an eyesore, to be sure.
I'm with those who pointed out that this post originally had NOTHING to do with politics (except that both parties involved have clearly - and publicly - stated their own opinions on such matters). So give it a rest.

I read it and was shocked by the typos. I'm releaved to know that George Clooney didn't actually write the piece.

Ariana is not clueless, she is a lying oppurtunist ....clooney is just an airhead, his best work was on Roseanne

If I add one half cup oatmeal to Toll House Cookies to improve the fiber content will they still be Toll House Cookies or will I need to call them Oat Toll Cookies?

Go back to sleep George.

Another example of the progressive circular firing squad. If McCain and Obama can kiss and make up, so can, and so should, Arianna and George. George certainly deserved his acting awards this year; in fact, his role was more substantial than many that have won the supporting prize.

This all makes sense. I like and respect George Clooney. He is an eloquent guy. The kind of guy you want to stand up and make a toast, or say a few words.

I was surprised by Clooney's post simply because he is a successful screenwriter and his post read like something he'd think or agree with, but not something he'd write. It wasn't written well. It was oversimplistic. This makes perfect, perfect sense now!

So, let me get this straight... Clooney's upset that Arianna quoted him like crazy in a blog, but didn't specifically say he didn't write the blog. He agrees with everything that was said, confirms they're accurate quotes that came from him, but is upset because he didn't write the entire blog... just the 'meat', which was considered accurate.

Wouldn't his time be better served chasing after people who are MISQUOTING or MISREPRESENTING him?

George Clooney is a liar!

Ok, now that that's settled, any reaction from Clooney on Max Boot article about him in today's Times'? Ha! Clooney a neocon. Who knew?

For more of Clooney's memorable quotes, check this link out: http://www.celebpolitics.com/detail_page_actors.php?actor_id=16

Clooney gets paid to play "dress up," Ariana married a gay dude to live here, and Britney Spears is knocked up again. That's news for the day. I'm going back to bed.

From a republican point of view, it appears that:
1. George Clooney is starting to make sense.
2. GW is eyeing our next target, maybe Iran or North Korea?
3. We are spending a lot of money on government, even though much of the security stuff is necessary.
4. All of the above scares the crap out of me.

I hope George sticks to his guns. I'm a HUGE fan, and what Arianna did is absolutely wrong. You don't collect quotes from someone and then present them as a blog - that's patent misrepresentation! Of all people, George Clooney has focused on the importance of honesty in the press. With everyone posting everything on the Web, we are at a crossroads as to the reliability of news sources. Sites like Arianna's should be punished for things like this. Why would an advertiser want to associate their name with this kind of racket? And she still thinks she's right????

Please George, stick up for what is right!

We need George just like we need Howar Dean. Keep it coming

Does everything have to be an us and them with our current state of affairs in this country. Doesn't anyone think for themselves anymore?
I am a Republican and Voted for George Bush but that doesn't mean that I agree with everything that the republicans say and disagree with everything the democrats say. It's amazing how much energy is spent on both sides arguing every little thing like they are the enemy. We are Americans and although we may not always agree, take a deep breath and don't let all of this stuff get you worked up. George Clooney is an American just like the rest of us.
